Argentina won a record 16th Copa America title.

After Lautaro Martinez scored in extra time, Argentina won the Copa America football title for a record 16th time by defeating Colombia.

Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 in the Copa final of the 48th edition held on Monday morning at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, USA.

For Argentina, Lautaro Martingel scored the decisive goal in the 112th minute with a pass from Giovanni Lo Solso. Both Lautaro and Lo Solso entered the field in the 97th minute.

Both teams failed to score in the scheduled 90 minutes and the game went to extra time. Where Lautaro, the top scorer of the ongoing Cup, became the hero. This is his fifth goal in the competition.

Argentina’s captain and superstar Lionel Messi left the field in the second half due to injury. He was replaced by Nicolas Gonzalez in the 66th minute.

After becoming the champion, Argentina became the most successful team in the Copa America. Earlier, Argentina and Uruguay won the title 15 times. Now Argentina has overtaken Uruguay.

Similarly, Argentina has also won three main titles in a row. Argentina won the Copa America title in 2021 and the FIFA World Cup title in 2022.
