Plane with 61 peoples crashes in Brazil
In the Brazilian state of São Paulo, a plane carrying 58 passengers and four crew members has crashed.
The twin-engine turboprop aircraft crashed near the town of Vinhedo en route from Cascavel, in the southern state of Paraná, to São Paulo city’s major airport, according to the Voepass airline.
Social media users have been sharing footage of a jet falling vertically and spiraling.
The aircraft landed on a residential building, according to the local authorities.
Images of a massive area on fire and burning wreckage in a neighborhood full of houses were displayed by Brazil’s GloboNews television network.
Local hospitals have been notified, and law enforcement and firefighters are on the site.
The aircraft was constructed in 2010, and it took off from Cascavel at 11:56 local time (14:56 GMT), according to tracking website Flightradar24. An hour and a half had passed since the aircraft’s last signal.
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, observed a minute of silence before speaking at an occasion.
He expressed on social media how upset he was to hear of the incident. My sincere sympathies go out to the victims’ friends and family.
