Arsenal and England captain Leah Williamson will be back on the field on Tuesday when the club plays the Women’s Champions League game against FC Twente, after being away for four months. Manager Renee Slegers confirmed that Williamson will make an appearance for a few minutes as she proceeds with her healing. The defender is out after being injured in the knee in the Euro 2025 final, which she won with England to become the champion for a second consecutive title.
Williamson is an unused reserve in the 2-1 victory of Arsenal over Liverpool last weekend and has gone through complete training sessions before making a comeback. According to Slegers, the club is slowly getting her back.
Arsenal have been poor without their captain, as they were eight points below Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City and 10th in the Champions League league stage. The fact that Williamson and Kim Little were back on their feet after receiving a head wound on the calf may also optimize the chances of Arsenal making it through to the knockout stages.
