Israeli Fire Near Rafah Aid Center Kills 27, Injures Dozens Amid Ongoing Tensions

Israeli forces kill 27

At least 27 Palestinians were killed and around 90 others injured on Tuesday after Israeli forces opened fire near an aid distribution site in Rafah, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The incident took place near the Flag Roundabout, close to a facility operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). This marks the third reported attack in the vicinity of the aid center in recent days, as per BBC reports.

The Israeli military stated that its forces were targeting individuals who had deviated from designated humanitarian routes. However, Gaza authorities claim that more than 100 people have been killed near the aid hub since GHF began operations on May 27.

The Red Cross reported that 184 injured were brought to its field hospital, 27 of whom later died. The BBC reported that the incident is being investigated.

The escalation of violence has raised renewed fears for the safety of humanitarian operations in Gaza, where thousands of individuals continue to require assistance as conditions on the ground worsen.
