Drone War Escalates as Kyiv Boosts Arsenal

Russia and Ukraine launched hundreds of drones at each other on Sunday, disrupting flights in major Russian cities and causing civilian casualties. Six Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow, while others hit near St. Petersburg, forcing temporary airport closures. In Ukraine, Russian drones injured civilians in Kyiv and Kharkiv, and hit a port in Mykolaiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced new agreements with European countries and a major US defense company to boost drone production. He said Ukraine would receive “hundreds of thousands” more UAVs this year.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have captured two villages—Piddubne in Donetsk and Sobolivka in Kharkiv. Ukraine has not confirmed these reports.

In the UK, French President Emmanuel Macron will start a state visit on Tuesday. He and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host a summit on Ukraine, aiming to strengthen defense cooperation and discuss new ways to pressure Russia into accepting an unconditional ceasefire.
