Flights at Dubai International Airport began gradually resuming on Monday after a drone attack triggered a fire and forced a temporary suspension of operations, authorities said. The disruption added to growing challenges for global aviation amid the ongoing U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran.
The incident occurred when a drone strike hit a fuel tank near the airport, though officials confirmed no injuries. Emirates Airline said it expected to partially restart services from 06:00 GMT, while some flights were cancelled or diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport. Budget carrier flydubai also briefly halted operations.
Air travel across the Middle East has been severely disrupted in recent weeks, with airlines cancelling or rerouting flights as regional airspace remains under threat from missile and drone attacks. Since February 28, Gulf countries have reported more than 2,000 such strikes. Dubai’s airport, one of the world’s busiest hubs, has now faced its third attack since the conflict escalated.
