Texas Flood Tragedy: 51 Dead, 27 Children Still Missing After Camp Disaster

River Rescue Mission

Central Texas is facing a devastating tragedy as flash floods have killed 51 people, including 15 children. The hardest-hit area is Kerr County, where 43 deaths have been confirmed and 27 children remain missing from a Christian youth camp along the Guadalupe River. Over 850 people have been rescued so far, but search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

Sheriff Larry Leitha vowed to continue efforts until every missing person is found. Governor Greg Abbott has expanded the disaster declaration to support rescue missions. The National Weather Service warns of more rainfall this weekend, which could worsen the situation.

President Trump confirmed that federal support is being sent to help state and local authorities. Flash flood warnings remain active across central Texas. Officials stress this is still a search and rescue operation, not recovery. Crews are combing the Guadalupe River in hopes of finding survivors.
