Russian attack on Ukrainian children’s hospital, more than 20 dead
A Russian missile has hit a children’s hospital in the capital of Ukraine. At least 20 people died in the attack. Similarly, in the attack in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, 10 people were killed and 31 were injured, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city administration.
It was the biggest bombing in Kyiv in months. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, one of Russia’s most advanced weapons, was also used in the day-long attack, officials said. It is difficult to stop it because it flies at high speed i.e. 10 times the speed of sound. Buildings in the city were shaken by the blast.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired more than 40 missiles of various types, hitting apartment buildings and public structures. The Kyiv city administration said that in some areas debris from the missile had fallen and started to catch fire. Thick plumes of smoke rose from many parts of Kyiv. The head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Andriy Yermal, said the attack took place when many people were gathering in the streets.
